It was born thanks to the initiative of community leaders, who in the 90s worked tirelessly to make the dream of doing radio in one of the largest communes in the municipality of Pitalito come true.
In 1997, the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications, MINTIC, granted the Community Action Board of the Cálamo neighborhood, led at that time by the community leader, ROBERTO MONTIEL OVIEDO, the operating license for a community radio station.
called CÁLAMO STEREO 98.8 FM.
In 2006 it changed its business name to LA PREFERIDA 98.8 FM.
Since 2016 and currently this community process is being led by the MGR.
HILDE ALFONSO MORENO HERRERA as manager and the technician in social communication and journalism AND HOVANY ANDRÉS VÉLEZ as general director and a whole team of professionals, who have consolidated a positioning job that currently places LA PREFERIDA 98.8 FM as one of the best community radio stations in the country.
Human quality, inclusion, content in our programming, administrative organization, technology and infrastructure, make us an excellent option to communicate in the south of the department of Huila.
